Kinshasa Convention

UNREC

  • Conduct an assessment in support of UNREC to establish the status of the Kinshasa convention in Angola.
  • Based on the assessment findings and recommendations, support the Angolan Government (MoFA) to empower the National Commission for Small Arms and Light Weapons SALW) in Angola.
  • Support the Angolan MoFA to Implements its Commitment and Obligations under the Kinshasa Conventions.
Zoonotic Disease Study

Harvard University

  • Conduct an assessment on Animal Markets and Zoonotic Diseases in Angola, as part of the Harvard University (Law School) study to support the US Government decision making. Orbis was selected to conduct the assessment in Angola, as part of a greater project implemented in 11 countries worldwide. (The Final Report is available upon request).

Border Management

Angolan Customs and the World Bank Group

  • Assisted the preparation of a National Workshop and conducted training for Angolan Customs and phytosanitary authorities under a Coordinated Border Management Project.
Wildlife Protection Project

Wildlife Impact

  • Support the development of an e-Permits Database for INBAC.
  • Procure uniforms and communications equipment for ranges at the National Parks and other logistics materials for the project.

Falcon Project

Birdlife Hungary

  • Install transmitters for Red-footed falcons (RFF) and monitor scientific data collection to understand pattern, behaviour and migration process and patterns between Angola and Europe.
  • Assess and define the implications for bush meet harvest (RFF).
  • Develop a base of support for the local community living in and around the RFF roosting site.
  • Deal with INBAC and Huambo Authorities to define the alternatives to divert the local population from bush meat harvest and introduce other socio-economic activities.
  • Develop a Research Centre for the RFF in Mungo, Huambo.
